The Night (poem)

How distant is the night?
The dew drops falling
In the river of oblivion
And with the broken wings
The dreams take flight
Like scattered droplets
Fading by the million

How distant is the night?
I can’t remember when
I knew what day was
And in the carousel of blades and light
I touch forever
And it melts into the distance

Who calls us when we’re lost?
What echoes swirl and sigh
In vertigo of voices
And who knows truths from lies
When every word is damaged
By a thousand choices?

Come, then, into the dark
And let the night dissolve you
Let whispers dry your tears
And wounded soul take shelter
From dusk ‘till dawn
In cold and weightless flight
