Just Leave a Message

Anyone calling anyone else should know by now that unless the person you’re calling is a boomer, they’re not gonna pick up the phone if they don’t know your number. 🙄 So either leave a message or text them if you want any chance of actually talking to the person.

That said, it’s a good idea to make it clear in your voicemail greeting that you don’t pick up unknown numbers, because boomers may not know this new rule and will keep calling you. The spammers and scammers whom we are trying to avoid picking up for will continue to call, but if you don’t pick up, the calls will be less and less frequent.

If you DO pick up a spammer/scammer call, though, that’ll tell them your number is active and you do pick up for unknown numbers. So suddenly the amount of scam/spam calls will increase exponentially. By the way, if you’ve ever picked up the phone to the silence on the other line and then the call dropped, it’s very likely that it’s the spamer/scammer system just calling you to verify your number. Congrats, you’ve just verified it for them. Get ready for a lot of frequent spammer/scammer calls. Great job. Don’t pick up next time.
